An indestructible Norwegian welt
For exceptional strength and long-lasting wear, we chose to craft these shoes using a Norwegian welt construction.
It’s recognizable by the two visible rows of stitching along the welt, which firmly bind all the elements together while giving the shoe its distinctive character:
- The first, horizontal stitch connects the internal elements — the upper, the insole, and the wall of the inner sole.
- The second, vertical stitch secures the external parts — the welt (the strip running around the shoe) and the outsole.
This construction makes the shoe incredibly solid and nearly waterproof, as water can barely seep through the sides.
And when the sole eventually shows signs of wear, you can have it resoled by a cobbler, extending its lifespan even further. You have plenty of time before that happens — but now you know.
A textured grained leather
To match the country spirit of the brogue, we chose to dress the Chester in a beautiful brown leather with subtle chocolate undertones.
For a change from traditional smooth leather, we opted this time for a grained leather. Its irregular, slightly raised texture makes it less prone to creasing and more resistant to water in rainy weather.
This supple, textured leather comes from Picusa, a Spanish tannery with over 50 years of expertise, managing every step of the tanning process in-house at its facility in the La Coruña region.
Certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), Picusa is committed to environmentally responsible practices — including careful water management, waste reduction, and lower use of chemicals.
A robust and insulating sole
The rubber sole on these brogues offers several advantages over a leather one:
- No need to visit a cobbler to add a protective rubber sole,
- All-terrain grip thanks to discreet treads, providing stability on wet, muddy, or gravelly ground,
- Effective insulation from cold surfaces,
- And excellent durability.
