A well-balanced fit

Neither loose nor tight, the cut of this sweater is slightly fitted — just enough to highlight your shape and give structure to your silhouette, without ever compromising comfort.

The character of shaggy jumpers

To spice up your wardrobe routine, there's nothing like a jumper with attitude. And the least we can say the Shaggy Dog jumper certainly has it:

  • a round neck and raglan sleeves that create an iconic shape,
  • a singular shaggy texture, originally derived from the texture of Shetland wool taken from sheep of the same name, and an innovative brushing process developed in the early 20th century by the J. Press brand.

Quickly adopted by American university students in the 1950s, then by movie stars and even John F. Kennedy, the shaggy jumper became an icon of Ivy League style.

But here's the thing: the roughness of Shetland wool can make it a little coarse against the skin, which may bother those with sensitive skin.

And we are the sensitive type, but fortunately, we are also sensitive to the work of Italian spinners.

The softness of Italian luxury

We wanted to dress you in the rustic charm of this tousled wool, but with a knit that is comfortable to wear. So we went in search of a fibre blend that is rarely seen:

  • 43% baby alpaca, much softer than regular alpaca, which gives it its unique look, uniqueness, softness and, above all, warmth.
  • 19% extra-fine merino wool to add structure to this jumper without compromising the softness of the baby alpaca,
  • 38% cotton to add stability, breathability and durability over time.

It took an expert in combining fine fibres to achieve this, and that expert is Filati Naturali. For over 135 years, this Italian spinning mill has been particularly creative. Much to the delight of our skin.

But it is the Italian knitter Visconti who provides the finishing touch: brushing on a vintage machine that gently lifts and pulls the fibres, followed by washing to stabilise and soften the knit, resulting in the softest shaggy effect we have ever felt.

The beauty of careful craftsmanship

A clean, neat finish on a jumper is always more attractive. And more comfortable: Visconti has knitted it without seams on the sleeves and sides, using a single thread on a Japanese knitting machine. This new construction also gives the collar a better fit.
